Waterproofing Company

Abrogate not only provides damp proofing, but is also a waterproofing company.

A wide range of building defects can result in rainwater entering the building. The symptoms are usually obvious, for example, water dripping through a ceiling.

Torch-on Membrane

Torch-on membrane is a bitumen-based waterproofing product which is heat-fused to underlying substrates. It is sold in a variety of thicknesses with single or dual re-enforcement with polyester or fibreglass.

Typical uses are the waterproofing of:

  • Roof slabs
  • Balconies and patios
  • Foundation walls
  • Retaining walls

Surfaces must be sound, clean and free from any contaminants and primed with one coat of Bitumen Primer prior to the application of the torch-on membrane. Once cooled, the membrane should be protected with 2 coats of Bitumen Aluminium Paint for UV protection or covered with a screed and tiling. Care should always be taken to ensure good overlaps between rolls and to lap any side walls to prevent water ingress. Refer to manufacturer’s guides for full application details.

Acrylic waterproofing system (Bondcryl)

This system consists of a combination of bondcryl waterproofing compound and stitch bonding polyester membrane

The most popular applications for the Bondcryl system is as follows:

  • Water proofing small roof areas
  • Water proofing parapets
  • Repairing damaged flashings

The application of the Bondcryl system is very simple. However, before starting one should ensure that the area to be waterproofed is sound, stable, and free of detritus, oil, or any other substance that may prevent the system from achieving a good bond to the substrate.
The Bondcryl Waterproofer is first applied to the surface to be waterproofed, the Bondcryl Membrane is then applied immediately on-to the wet Bondcryl Liquid. Once the Bondcryl Liquid has dried (2-24 hours, depending on weather conditions) a second coat of Liquid should be applied over the Membrane.

Bitumen Membrane System

The product is a water-based, rubberized bitumen emulsion, used with a membrane to form a liquid water proofing system.

Typical uses:

  • All types of Flashings.
  • Parapet Walls.
  • Flat roofs smaller than 500m2.
  • Sealing joints, laps and roofing screws on corrugated roofs.

Advantages:

  • Suitable for use in potable water conditions and water features
  • Can be applied to damp surfaces
  • Tough and flexible
  • Excellent adhesion

DO NOT apply if rain is imminent. The product is not UV stable and requires a suitable bitumen-based reflective coating.
